About This Spot

Step inside Gettysburg Family Restaurant and you’ll find yourself wrapped in the gentle hum of a well-loved small-town diner, where the rhythm is easy and unpretentious. It’s the kind of place that feels like a comfortable pause after a day filled with discovery, offering a quiet reassurance that good, honest food and warm conversation await.

The atmosphere carries the charm of familiar faces and the steady chatter of locals who’ve made this spot part of their routine. The decor may tell stories of years gone by, but those walls cradle countless moments of connection—family breakfasts, weekday lunches, and the simple joy of sharing a slice of homemade carrot cake or a perfectly crispy fried chicken sandwich. Here, the pace is unhurried, but the service moves smoothly, often surprising visitors with how swiftly their comfort food arrives at the table.

At its heart, Gettysburg Family Restaurant is about gathering — a place where generations meet over morning coffee and plates piled with classics like country omelets or tender breast of chicken. It’s where the comforting sizzle of bacon mingles with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and where kids find favorites amid the wide-ranging menu. From broasted chicken to the little touches like English muffins and fresh oatmeal, every dish aligns with that warm, home-cooked feeling.

Visitors appreciate how this modest diner balances hearty servings with thoughtful pricing, making it a welcome stop whether you’re wrapping up a day in Gettysburg or just looking for a reliable meal with a local touch. The friendly staff and genuine smiles make it feel less like a restaurant and more like an extension of the community’s heart—an unspoken invitation to sit down, relax, and savor a moment that feels like it could only happen here.

My sister and I came from Virginia to see Gettysburg. After a full day of exploring we were tired, hungry and just wanted some good food before the drive home. We just kinda looked up places to eat and this place happened to be about 5 min away from where we were at so we took the chance. Oh my goodness it was delicious!!!! The staff was super friendly! The prices were incredibly reasonable! The food was delicious and the perfect quantity. The environment of the restaurant was clean and just that good mom and pop feel that is sadly disappearing. I honestly wish I lived closer because I would totally be a regular!

This place popped up when we were searching for somewhere to eat dinner tonight. We had never been here before and wanted to try something the whole family would enjoy. The place was packed, but we were seated almost immediately. Each of my kids actually ate their meal, unlike at some of the fancier places we’ve visited this week during our second Gettysburg trip. The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the large portions. No wonder this place has nearly 2,000 reviews. Definitely worth stopping in.

An oldie bit a goodie! More diner-style than restaurant. A wide range of foods, very large menu. Huge selection of desserts. Fried string beans are wonderful! Harvard beets? They have them! Meat loaf, pork chops, fried chicken, gyros, clubs, country fried steak on hand! Fish and chips always good. Lots of soups and sides. The decor is in serious need of a facelift, nothing a good scrubbing and a coat of paint wouldn't fix. Lots of seating, no-frills here. A solid choice for any time of day.

The food and service were great. Definitely small town diner vibes. I had the egg salad, Mozzarella sticks, and fries. Everything was fresh and they have good prices.

I LOVED this place! We were in Gettysburg visiting family and ate here for breakfast! It was BUSY but we were sat fast and the food came so fast I was genuinely surprised it was ours as it came to the table! The servers and host all worked great together! The food was hot and yummy! And the PRICES!! Wow I haven’t seen prices that low in a long time! I wish this restaurant were on my hometown!

I was craving baked oatmeal, and they not only had it, but served it with delicious fresh fruit. 1st time here. If this is this good, I’m sure the rest of their dishes are terrific.

Best place to have a nice country breakfast. Atmosphere friendly, food great as it should be, price is can afford, the staff friendly and helpful. My favorite is my strawberry pancakes and my bacon and egg cooked just right.
